Hi there,

I'm a Ph.D. Candidate in the Rhetoric and Composition Program at The University of Texas at El Paso. As a Mellon Research Scholar, I contribute to Latinx Sound Cultures Studies under the leadership of Dr. Inés Casillas (UCSB), Dr. Esther Diaz Martin (UIC), and Dr. Sara Hinojos (CUNY). This is a research group in the Crossing Latinidades Humanities Initiative program at the University of Illinois at Chicago funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

I'm a Mexican Latino born and raised on the border between Juárez-El Paso. My interest as a researcher focuses on Sound Studies, and the intersections between soundscapes, philosophy, and Cultural and Latino Studies from a disciplinary posture of Rhetoric. To inquire about the social dynamic and symbolic constructions that result from cultural-aesthetic exchanges in the border Latino community, I investigate the socio-cultural border phenomenon through sound studies and its contribution to the region's historical heritage.

I’m a Ph.D. student in the English Rhetoric and Composition Program at the University of Texas at El Paso. I earn my M.A. in Studies and Creative Processes in Art and Design in 2015 and a B.A. in Graphic Design some years ago.

As a scholar, my work focus on Digital and Visual Rhetorics, Design Thinking, and Sound Studies. My research interest is in Soundscapes. I consider that sounds that arise between borders are relevant because they contribute to the region's historical heritage. My research focuses on the intersection between Soundscapes and Philosophy from a disciplinary posture of Rhetoric.
